Nurture’s Sexual Assault Referral Services: We bring specialist forensic, clinical and operational assurance to one of the highest-risk interfaces between healthcare and justice.

At Nurture Health and Care clinical care meets forensic precision. We make both stronger. Victim focussed care and forensic integrity are not competing priorities, our model of service delivery is designed to protect both.

1

For the person using the service, it should feel human and victim focussed.

For commissioners, it should feel controlled.

Every interaction must protect the individual and ensure they are ‘front and centre’ of decision making, preserve forensic integrity and give Police and NHS commissioners confidence that the service will perform when it matters. Our Sexual Assault Referral Services bring specialist clinical expertise, forensic leadership and compassionate, trauma-informed care together within one highly assured model.

We operate across the UK and currently deliver services across four SARCs, supporting children, young people and adults. Our approach is built around choice, dignity and safety for every person accessing the service, while creating the forensic, safeguarding and governance assurance required by healthcare and criminal justice partners.

Our Expertise:

Specialist expertise. National capability. Risk designed out.

Sexual Assault Referral Centres operate at the intersection of healthcare, safeguarding and criminal justice. Getting one element right is not enough.

Our teams bring deep specialist capability across paediatric, children and young people, and adult services, supported by clinical leadership, Sexual Offence Examiners, crisis workers, safeguarding specialists, quality professionals and a wider national clinical network.

At the centre of our model is uncompromising forensic quality.

We design and operate services around the requirements of the Forensic Science Regulator (FSR), with forensic governance, quality management, audit, contamination control, evidence continuity, professional competence and escalation embedded into everyday delivery, not added retrospectively for inspection. The national specification requires providers to maintain compliance with the FSR Code of Practice and associated standards, with appropriately trained practitioners and accountable quality leadership.

We build services around people, evidence and the system that connects them.

No two communities, police forces or commissioning environments are identical. Our approach allows us to create flexible models that meet national standards while responding intelligently to local demand, geography, workforce pressures and pathway complexity.

Our Sexual Assault Referral Services can include:

  • Paediatric, children & young people services: Specialist age-appropriate pathways built around safeguarding, clinical expertise, communication and the needs of the child or young person.
  • Adult SARC services: Responsive forensic, healthcare and crisis support for police, professional and self-referrals.
  • Unparallelled Training: Bespoke and ground-breaking training programme, beyond anything else currently being offered in the UK.
  • Forensic Science Regulator assurance: Governance and operational systems designed around FSR compliance, evidence integrity and continuous quality improvement.
  • Crisis & victim support: Trauma-informed advocacy, staged consent, choice and compassionate support throughout the experience.
  • Safeguarding & complex risk: Specialist assessment, escalation and multi-agency working around vulnerability, mental health, exploitation and ongoing risk.
  • Integrated recovery pathways: Connecting the immediate SARC response with sexual health, advocacy, therapeutic and wider recovery services so people are not left navigating fragmented systems.
  • National workforce resilience: Specialist clinical networks and flexible deployment that strengthen local delivery when demand or complexity increases.
  • Quality, governance & service transformation: Supporting commissioners to improve existing services or develop new delivery models with measurable assurance built in from the outset.

Innovation in forensic healthcare cannot mean taking chances.

Our approach is to innovate around the infrastructure of care, workforce design, access, resilience, technology, pathways, governance and how expertise is deployed, while keeping the fundamental standards of forensic practice non-negotiable.

We develop new models that can respond more intelligently to demand, strengthen workforce sustainability, reduce fragmentation and create better continuity between forensic examination, healthcare, safeguarding and recovery.

Human when it matters. Forensic where it counts. We provide a safer service for victims, where they can have confidence in care and choice.

A stronger service for the system, where compassion is without compromise, risk is designed out and quality designed in.
